Riding the Subway with Stanley Kubrick
As most New Yorkers know, the subway system is the lifeline of New York City. In 1946 Stanley Kubrick set out as a staff photographer for LOOK Magazine to capture the story of New York City’s subway commuters.

if you are a decent photographer, you shouldn’t have to spend hours photoshopping photos. they just happen, and minimal work should be required to make them look GREAT. at least that’s my opinion, but then again, i’m a purist when it comes to photography and photoshop.

what do i do without monell’s camera shop?
i decided that i am going to start a real photo project, not just a single photoshoot though, sort of a photo diary. i want to take at least one (or many) photos a day, for a year, to sort of represent my life (which is going to be considerably different this year). i’ve tried keeping journals, writing in diaries, but i never commit to them, but i know i can commit to a camera; a photo a day. i won’t be sticking to any particular film, or camera either, because that would get boring for me. i’ll also post photos more in bunches, since i’ll be shooting in film, i’ll be getting the photos back in batches. something to keep me looking forward, and a good first photo project.
i know everyone on flickr would refer to this as a “365” but i want to think of an original name for it, and it’ll come, just not tonight. in essence though, its a 365 if that helps explain it. stay tuned.
